Chairman: Craig J. Pierre
Brothers,
I have been charged by our 30th Grand Polemarch to serve
as Chairman of the Guide Right Commission. We have four National
Guide Right Initiatives, of which we have experienced great
success:
African American Male Summit, Boy Scouts of America, A-MAN
African American Male Achievers Network) and Kappa Kamp.
As in the past, we will continue to support and enhance existing
Guide Right Initiatives. I have set several goals, most of
which are tied to our ability to tap the philanthropic arm
of Corporate America. We are going to continue the process
of educating corporations about the many outstanding Guide
Right efforts, which are ongoing throughout the country. I'm
requesting that each Province Polemarch inform the membership
during Province Council Meeting and CRWLC of our objective
to secure corporate dollars. Most of our members work in Corporate
America, and may not be aware of programs within their respective
companies that may provide financial assistance to our foundation.
We must work steadfast on changing the perception of most
of our members. With the Grand Polemarch emphasizing Guide
Right as one of five major initiatives during his tenure and
with all of us rededicating ourselves, Guide Right can drastically
improve our perceptions not only among the membership, but
also within the general public.
The Grand Board approved the Guide Right Commission to incorporate
the first week of February as Kappa Alpha Psi, National Guide
Right week. During this week each province and local chapter
will challenge the members to volunteer at local schools,
boys & girls clubs or a local shelter. Undergraduates
can conduct voter registration drives or other campus Guide
Right programs.
A-MAN recently completed a very successful Space Day, with
approximately 125 kids from the Los Angles area participating.
Space Day provided the kids an opportunity to acquire first
hand knowledge about the latest space technology advancements.
Representative from NASA were present.
Also, I encourage chapters to submit Guide Right activities
to the journal editor. Lastly, I'm requesting members that
are actively involved with the Boys Scouts as a Scout Master,
Troop Leader,Volunteer,or work in the Boys Scouts Of America
corporate office to please contact me indicating your level
of involvement. I can be contacted at hm. (225) 926-0395,
or via email: craigpierre@cox.net
Thanks, for your support!
