Once again it’s Christmastime and the Christmas spirit is all around. We rejoice in the Christmas season because we belong to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., a fraternity founded on Christian principles. For nearly 106 years, members of Kappa Alpha Psi have participated in observances commemorating the birth and life of Jesus Christ. These observances are consistent with the vision of our Founders and continue with the 33rd Administration of our Fraternity.
When I think about Christmas, I humbly acknowledge the miracle of the virgin birth of Jesus, and the circumstances and environment that surrounded this magnificent occasion. I am reminded of the words of the Prophet Isaiah, who wrote, “For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” During this Christmas season, let us pause and acknowledge the birth of the one who is called to bring peace to the world.
Let us continue to work together to be good stewards of the peace that God has given us. I encourage all of our brothers to let this spirit of peace last beyond the Christmas season. As we approach Founders’ Day, look for ways to carry this peace with you into the New Year. Let’s enter 2017 ready to spread goodwill at every chance we get.
Enjoy this season with your families and loved ones. Take each possible moment to rest and rejuvenate. As you reflect on the gifts that you may give and receive, remember the gift of life. Your life is important to Kappa and we cannot make it without you. Continue to stay the course for the cause of Kappa.
May you and your family enjoy this season, and where possible help someone else have a better Christmas because of you.
Yours in the Bond,
Thomas L. Battles, Jr.
