|IKARE Appeals to Brothers|
Once again there's an alarm at the gate. It's IKARE time again! Our brothers and others are being adversely affected by the floods in the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana. It's time for us to step up to the plate to assist in every way we can to help our fellow citizens recover from the ravages of this devastating event.
We are in contact with the 31st Grand Polemarch, Dwayne M. Murray, a resident of Baton Rouge, who has had to help the family of Elder Watson Diggs Awardee Chuck Carr Brown and others who had to be relocated because of the floods. We are also reaching out to all available resources to obtain relief for this area where disaster help is needed.
Brother Michael Debose, president of the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, who happens to be an executive with Grainger, has made arrangements for his company to match supplies that we purchase for donation to the disaster relief effort in Louisiana. We are therefore appealing to you to help us magnify our efforts taking advantage of this generous matching opportunity.
I have been in contact with Brother Michael Jackson, Polemarch of Baton Rouge Aumni Chapter who has expressed his appreciation for the support they are receiving thus far. The area chapter polemarchs are coordinating clean-up crews who are helping to mitigate against mold and infestation that follows water damage. Brothers now have access back to their homes, but they still have significant needs.
It's your turn brothers. If you can't help on-site in Louisiana, go to the Kappa Foundation website and contribute to the disaster relief fund. Use the following links:
Select your amount of donation, One Time button, then IKARE from the drop-down menu.
If you wish to contribute by check, make check payable to the Kappa Foundation and mail to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., 2322-24 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19132. Indicate "IKARE" or "Louisiana Flood" on check.
