The Laurel Wreath Award

Personal Achievement Award

The Laurel Wreath Award is the highest awards available to a member of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. The Laurel Wreath of Kappa Alpha Psi® available only to members in good standing with the Fraternity for extra meritorious achievement as described in the Statutes. It is important that the petition be accurate, factual, concise and convincingly supported by exhibits.  Exhibits may consist of copies of newspaper articles, copies of certificates and awards and letters of acknowledgement, etc.  Scrapbooks, photo albums, videotapes should not be included as exhibits.  The petition must be typewritten and saved in PDF format.  The Laurel Wreath Commission will review all petitions and recommend no more than five (5) candidates to the Grand Board for approval.

Elder Watson Diggs Award

Personal Achievement Award

The Elder Watson Diggs Award is one of the highest awards available to a member of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. It is important that the petition be accurate, factual, concise and convincingly supported by exhibits. Exhibits may consist of copies of newspaper articles, copies of certificates and awards and letters of acknowledgement, etc. Scrapbooks, photo albums, videotapes should not be included as exhibits. The petition must be typewritten and saved in PDF format. The Achievement Commission will review all petitions and recommend no more than five (5) candidates to the Grand Board for approval.

Byron Kenneth Armstrong Scholars Award

Personal Achievement Award

The Byron K. Armstrong Scholars Award is the only Grand Chapter award available to undergraduate members of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. for outstanding achievement. A Brother nominated for this award must 1) be matriculating for an undergraduate degree, and 2) be eligible for graduation in the term immediately preceding or during the period that the Province Council is being held. The candidate’s grade point average must be 3.0 or higheron a 4.0 scale. It is important that the typed petition be factual and concise. The Achievement Commission will review all petitions and recommend the six (6) top scholars to the Grand Board for approval. The two (2) top scholars (summa cum laude) will receive a plaque and a monetary award of $4,000 each; the two (2) second-place finishers (magna cum laude) will receive a plaque and $3,000 each; and the two (2) third-place finishers (cum laude) will receive a plaque and $2,000 each.

Guy L. Grant Award

Personal Achievement Award

The Guy Levis Grant Award is one of the highest awards available to an undergraduate member of Kappa Alpha Psi®  Fraternity, Inc. It is important that the petition be accurate, factual, and concise, and convincingly supported by exhibits. Exhibits may consist of copies of newspaper articles, copies of certificates and awards, letters of acknowledgement, etc. Scrapbooks, photo albums, videotapes should not be included as exhibits. The petition must be typewritten and the candidate’s achievements summarized in no more than three (3) pages. The Achievement Commission will review all petitions and recommend as many as six (6) candidates to the Grand Polemarch for approval.  

William L. Crump History Award

Personal Achievement Award

The William L. Crump History Award was established to create a greater interest in, knowledge of, and appreciation for the expanding history of Kappa Alpha Psi®® Fraternity, Inc. This award is dedicated to our former Grand Historian William L. Crump, who persevered for many years in maintaining the legacy of our great Fraternity. The William L. Crump History Award is competitive on both the Undergraduate and Alumni levels. A medal designed by Nathan Cooley of the Gary (IN) Alumni Chapter, and a certificate will be awarded to a maximum of three (3) Undergraduate and three (3) Alumni winners.

Paul Waymond Caine Alumni COY Award

Chapter Achievement Award

The Paul W. Caine Alumni Chapter of the Year Award is the highest Grand Chapter award available to alumni chapters for outstanding achievement. The alumni chapters nominated must have at least ten (10) members who are financial with the alumni chapter, Province, and Grand Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. at the time of filing the application. The Province may select and recommend to IHQ and the Achievement Commission not more than one chapter in each category as specified below:

  1. A chapter with at least ten but not more than 30 members in good standing with the Fraternity at the Grand Chapter, Province and chapter levels is in the small chapter category;
  2. A chapter with at least 31 but not more than 60 members in good standing with the Fraternity at the Grand Chapter, Province and chapter levels is in the medium chapter category;
  3. A chapter with more than 60 members in good standing with the Fraternity at the Grand Chapter, Province, and chapter levels is in the large chapter category.

Similarly, the Achievement Commission will select and recommend to the Grand Board for approval only one chapter in each category.

Edward Giles Irvin Undergraduate COY Award

Chapter Achievement Award

The Edward G. Irvin Undergraduate Chapter of the Year Award is the highest Grand Chapter award available to undergraduate chapters for outstanding achievement. The undergraduate chapters nominated must have at least seven (7) members who are financial with the undergraduate chapter, Province, and Grand Chapter. The three categories are shown below.

  1. A chapter with at least seven but not more than 20 members in good standing with the Fraternity at the Grand Chapter, Province and chapter levels is in the small chapter category;
  2. A chapter with at least 21 but not more than 30 members in good standing with the Fraternity at the Grand Chapter, Province and chapter levels is in the medium chapter category;
  3. A chapter with more than 30 members in good standing with the Fraternity at the Grand Chapter, Province and chapter levels is in the large chapter category.

The Achievement Commission will select and recommend to the Grand Board for approval only one chapter in each category.

Ronald R. Young Website of the Year Award

Chapter Achievement Award
The Ronald R. Young Website of the Year Award is the Grand Chapter award available to provinces and chapters for outstanding websites. Each province shall select one alumni and one undergraduate chapter to receive its award for “Province Website of the Year.” The winners of the “Province Chapter Website of Year” award shall serve as the official website representatives for that particular province. Only official nominees originated by the Province of jurisdiction will receive consideration. The Province may select and recommend not more than one chapter in each category as specified below:
  1. A chapter with at least ten but not more than 30 members in good standing with the Fraternity at the Grand Chapter, Province and chapter levels is in the small chapter category;
  2. A chapter with at least 31 but not more than 60 members in good standing with the Fraternity at the Grand Chapter, Province and chapter levels is in the medium chapter category;
  3. A chapter with more than 60 members in good standing with the Fraternity at the Grand Chapter, Province, and chapter levels is in the large chapter category.
